Gray Outslugs Black in Game 1 of Fall Series, 20-5

Led by two 7-run innings, the gray team defeated the black squad, 20-5, in Game 1 of the Steak & Beans World Series Friday night. Gray registered 16 hits, including seven that went for extra bases. Kenton Parmley led the way with three doubles and five RBIs while Kyle Gumieny earned the victory with four innings of 1-run relief.

Matt Wagner will play first base for the black team during the intrasquad series. He has been an All-OVC selection in both seasons as a member of the Redhawks.

Annual Steak & Beans Fall World Series Begins Friday

Southeast baseball has divided its 29-player fall roster into two teams for the annual Steak & Beans Fall World Series. Assistant coaches Chris Cafalone and Lance Rhodes will manage the squads. Game 1 begins Friday with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m. at Capaha Field. The teams will face off again Saturday at 12 p.m.

Rick McCarty Joins Redhawks Baseball Coaching Staff

Southeast Missouri State head baseball coach Mark Hogan announced today that Rick McCarty will join the Redhawks coaching staff as the new pitching coach in the 2008-09 season. McCarty has five years of previous coaching experience, all coming at NCAA Division II Delta State University.
